Sunset on Lake Erie

The other evening my husband and I decided that we would pack up our gear and head out to the Lake for the sunset and see what we could capture. We went to this little park that is right on the Lake and about 5 minutes from our house. Todd and I had never seen a sunset on Lake Erie, at least in this area so we had no idea what we were in for. It was pretty gorgeous! Not quite as dramatic as many more exotic places, but we were on Lake Erie, we weren't expecting that much! :) Here are a few of my favorites!

This is the first photo I snapped of the night, I love how the Sun is just peaking out of the clouds and sending rays down towards the Earth!

This is another one of my shots...I thought it was pretty intense and captivating!

This is one of Todds, I played around with it in Lightroom and I thought the result was peaceful and enjoyable, so I thought I'd share it too!

Obviously I didn't take this one! Todd snapped me when I was playing in the sand! I was drawing a heart with a stick, totally cliché, I know!

Compliment

I feel as if it may be starting, as if I am on the brink of something amazing! I went to the office in my apartment complex and one of the girls who works there is pregnant, very pregnant and absolutely adorable! I asked her if she had maternity photos done and she said that she hadn't but her and her husband had thought about it. I gave her my info and told her to check out my website and see what she thought.

I do this often and usually not much comes from it. However this was different. The next afternoon I got a call on my cell phone from the office. Thinking something was wrong or I had another delivery I answered and the voice on the other end was exuberant! It was the very pregnant young lady and she was so joyous! She informed me that she had viewed my website and loved everything! She said that my work was so creative and unique, unlike anything she had every seen. She told me my photos were the best she had ever seen!! I couldn't believe it! It was so nice to hear this from someone who wasn't obligated to be polite, you know like your mother or any other family member..you know who you are! I was on cloud nine, I felt as if I had finally landed, finally fell into this head first and was managing to stay afloat!! It's amazing how much better one phone call can make your day!

Motivation with Lack of Sleep!

How does one get motivated to do anything productive when they had an awful night's sleep? Good question and one that I have been wrestling with for an hour and a half!

I'm enjoying my new life here in Cleveland (Westlake). I'm enjoying that when people ask me "so what do you do?" I can simply say "I'm a photographer", not "well...I'm a pharmacy technician but I'm also a photographer on the side"!! I love it!

I'm in the process of organizing my whole world to get ready for this business! I've spent hours designing and ordering new business cards and logos and return address labels and sticky notes. I have ordered new things such as car magnets to try and drum up business in as many ways possible! There are still some other things that I have to take care of, but I'm able to do that now that I don't have a place to be Monday-Friday from 8-5!! Ya know?

It's scary, this whole thing, going out to a strange place where everything is different; new city, no day job, new career, new neighbors (which are much friendlier than the previous neighbors), new friends (not as wonderful as my C-Bus girls!), new stores, new restaurants, new places to photograph! Crazy but awesome!

Yesterday the motto was Carpe Diem, and today I'm still feeling that!!

Outside

I just wanted to say that it is a gorgeous day out today, Sunny and 75! I think everyone should go out and take a deep breath and inhale the sunshine and the spring a little bit! I don't know about you all, but I'm really ready for summer!! and swimming!!! I think I'll go outside and wash my car or take my dogs on a really long walk!?!

Or maybe get my camera out and go to a park? Not sure? We shall see!

Carpe diem!!!!

Old photo turned new again!

I just have to share something amazing that happened yesterday! My husband and I were working on updating my website and adding some new and old photos to the galleries, when I decided to return to some photos that were taken at a wedding I shot over 3 years ago! Back then I was pretty much an amateur, I didn't have the best software for post-processing and all of my photos just kind of fell flat compared to my most recent work. So in an attempt to show a broader spectrum of my abilities to potential clients I went back to this wedding set and tried to re-work them in Lightroom! Here is the end result:

I was floored! I couldn't believe the difference! This photo was originally just a flat black and white...I thought that it was a cool photo even then because it is actually her reflection in a mirror and the bride has such a gorgeous profile, but now...I'm blown away! What do you guys think? I'm definitely going to have to contact the bride and send her this new photo!

Thanks for reading!!

Steve and Melissa Goldston

Hey all,

I know I just posted my first blog about 20 minutes ago, but I'm already kind of addicted and wanted to share some photos from a wedding I shot on April 6th. I would appreciate your comments and critiques!

Here is a little background on the couple...they are so cute together and were very easy going on the big day, with little to no drama, which is always what a photographer likes! But the cutest thing is that they met at my wedding! They were both guest's at my wedding and sat at the same table and as they say, the rest is history! I felt so honored that they wanted me to photograph their special day!

So here they are, tell me what you think!

This is Melissa before the ceremony in the ballroom, shot from the balcony where she tossed her bouquet.

The happy couple, minutes after they said "I DO"

The cake! One of my all time favs!

This was one of my favorites! We went outside of the hotel and I made everyone in the background go inside the hotel for a moment so I could capture the two of them in front of the historic land mark of the Southern Theater!

Her rings, the Bible open to I Corinthians 13 (which was read during their ceremony), and a shadow of a heart made from her rings...that about sums it up!

During their first dance the DJ lighting was shooting out rays of different colored light and it made for such a unique shot!

The groom is Jewish so during the traditional Jewish dancing, they threw the bride in the middle and she was having a blast!

Let me know what you guys think!!

First Blog

Hey guys!

This is my first official blog! I have been reading a lot about blogging lately and thought that it would be something that could be quite advantageous, so here I am. For some of you who may not know, I recently quit my full time job as a pharmacy technician to pursue my passion for photography full time! What an exciting time!! My husband, Todd and I just moved to Northeast Ohio to the suburb of Westlake, so I will now be working out of Columbus and Cleveland. I plan on traveling back and forth as necessary, not that I mind being able to see my family whenever I have a Columbus job...so all you Columbus Brides-to-be...please keep calling me!! (My family and friends really appreciate it!)

I have a couple of shots that I want to get some feedback on and will post them soon, so please keep reading!!

Thank you for all of you support,
Lindsay Tedder
