A Spooktacular HalloWedding!!!

I had the pleasure of spending Halloween with a very special couple! Kelly and Gary tied the knot on 10.31.09! It was such a fun day and I was so excited to spend it with them. The entire group was a blast and was so much fun to photograph! Between the ceremony and reception the bridal party and Todd and I went to Olmsted Falls and took some really fun photos on and around the train tracks and walking through town. The groomsmen even had to stop traffic so we could cross the street! It was hilarious!! When we wrapped up the bridal party pics and headed back to the reception, the bridal party awaiting their intro in a side room, where they choreographed their entrances...too fun!! Guests at the reception had fun with the Halloween scene by dressing in costumes! There were a lot of really funny ideas...like a group of Troll Dolls!! It was great!! I had such a fantastic time spending the day with this amazing couple!

Check out the photos below and tell me what you think!!

Wind-blown!

They were cracking up the majority of the time!

I told the guys that the girls were beating them at being fun....this is what I got!!

Sneaking a kiss!

I told you...always cracking up...I love it!

I love this one! It is such a contrast!

Get it girls!!

The brides shoes and her very sentimental earrings!

I love this shot...the font of the invitation was so cool!

Absolute favorite! We were on the train tracks when they spotted headlights!
We ran off the tracks and had them stand in front of the train...I told them they had to be very still for this to work...they did an amazing job and it created a fantastic photo!!!

Kristen and Bobby Hill 08.16.08

So...I shot a wedding last weekend for a couple who I have known for quite some time now. It was a blast! It was honestly one of those weddings where nothing goes wrong and you are kind of just waiting to see what will happen!! But nothing ever did...the weather was perfect, the crowd was fun, and the music was lively! Kristen and Bobby were adorable and you could tell they were a perfect pair! I haven't finished their photos just yet, but I have taken a few of my favorites and played around with them...what do you think??

Todd caught this one, when I was directing them during their formals, I love it!

Another one of Todd's!! Way to go babe!!!

Their kiss!
I really love this one, the angle, the bridesmaids, the crowd taking photos!

Under the veil!
This is not usually one of my favorite poses, but this one turned out very nice!!

The girls kicked off their shoes to dance! I love it!

What do you like/not like....let me know!!

Manukin/Baran Wedding 05.24.08

This past weekend was a bit chaotic for us! We shot a wedding Friday night in Columbus, then drove to St. Clairsville to shoot a wedding all day Saturday. Busy busy! But it was so much fun and well worth the chaos. I haven't quite finished editing all of the photos from either wedding but here are some of my favorites from Saturday's events.

The bride and groom drove off on a Harley! They were so much fun!

This was my first attempt at shooting the "jumping shot"...I think they turned out good! The whole bridal party was so full of energy. Check out the groomsman all the way to the left and the Maid of Honor, to the right of the bride, talk about getting some air!!!

I wasn't sure about this one, it may be a little dark, but I think it is quiet and romantic.

I told the couple to just walk together until I told them to stop, they were so adorable and kept looking at each other and smiling.

This one was taken just as you would enter a long tunnel. I think the black and white edit makes the photo just about them and not their background, which makes this shot even more dynamic.

I love this one, it is one of my favorites. The tunnel behind them is so dramatic and historic, which demonstrates the bond of their unity.

Silhouette of the kiss! I love how they are both in white, if the groom was in a tradition tux, this shot would not be nearly as effective.

Please feel free to leave your comments!
I appreciate hearing back from you.

Reception Fun!

After all of the spring cleaning, I did a lot of editing of a lot of old photos and I found some fun reception shots that really capture the personality of the bride and groom...as well as some feisty bridesmaids!! The shots below are very candid and a ton of fun!

I don't like it when the bride and groom smash cake on each other's faces, but this couple did a great job of getting the point across without getting too messy and they looked adorable doing it!

This set of sisters was really battling over the bouquet! This battle continued for several minutes, believe it or not and they ended up wrestling on the floor!! Hilarious!

This couple had fun without smashing cake on each other...I think it is cute how both their eyes are closed, like they are really enjoying the cake!

The dance! The groom picked up the bride and swung her around...very fun...kind of blurry, but I thought it was fun!

This groom loved the icing!! This couple was full of personality, this is the same groom in the photo with the groomsman with the garter!!

Spring Cleaning of Sorts.

I have spent today doing a sort of spring cleaning of my photos! As I am trying to expand my website and the depth of my work that is displayed there, I have gone back to weddings I shot nearly 4 years ago and spent some time with post-process. When I shot these weddings, I was just starting out and I didn't have the software that I do now, so I wanted to take a few of my favorites that I knew had potential and re-work them a little! Here are the results!

The bubbles in this are amazing, the crowd really did a great job getting them going before the bride and groom came outside!

I'm absolutely in love with this one! To me it really demonstrates what marriage is truly about. I love how dramatic it is and how the only thing that you can see is the couple and the cross.

To me, this ceremony shot captures a lot of different emotions; the priest blessing the couple, the couple joining hands in a new unity and their family and friends on-looking with love and support.

This was from one of the first few weddings I photographed and with some additional post-process I was able to capture a nice silhouette of the bride getting ready.

Cracks me up! This groomsman was so excited about catching the garter, I'm glad I captured his true expression!

Old photo turned new again!

I just have to share something amazing that happened yesterday! My husband and I were working on updating my website and adding some new and old photos to the galleries, when I decided to return to some photos that were taken at a wedding I shot over 3 years ago! Back then I was pretty much an amateur, I didn't have the best software for post-processing and all of my photos just kind of fell flat compared to my most recent work. So in an attempt to show a broader spectrum of my abilities to potential clients I went back to this wedding set and tried to re-work them in Lightroom! Here is the end result:

I was floored! I couldn't believe the difference! This photo was originally just a flat black and white...I thought that it was a cool photo even then because it is actually her reflection in a mirror and the bride has such a gorgeous profile, but now...I'm blown away! What do you guys think? I'm definitely going to have to contact the bride and send her this new photo!

Thanks for reading!!

Steve and Melissa Goldston

Hey all,

I know I just posted my first blog about 20 minutes ago, but I'm already kind of addicted and wanted to share some photos from a wedding I shot on April 6th. I would appreciate your comments and critiques!

Here is a little background on the couple...they are so cute together and were very easy going on the big day, with little to no drama, which is always what a photographer likes! But the cutest thing is that they met at my wedding! They were both guest's at my wedding and sat at the same table and as they say, the rest is history! I felt so honored that they wanted me to photograph their special day!

So here they are, tell me what you think!

This is Melissa before the ceremony in the ballroom, shot from the balcony where she tossed her bouquet.

The happy couple, minutes after they said "I DO"

The cake! One of my all time favs!

This was one of my favorites! We went outside of the hotel and I made everyone in the background go inside the hotel for a moment so I could capture the two of them in front of the historic land mark of the Southern Theater!

Her rings, the Bible open to I Corinthians 13 (which was read during their ceremony), and a shadow of a heart made from her rings...that about sums it up!

During their first dance the DJ lighting was shooting out rays of different colored light and it made for such a unique shot!

The groom is Jewish so during the traditional Jewish dancing, they threw the bride in the middle and she was having a blast!

Let me know what you guys think!!
